Supporting Local & Global Communities

Giving back is important to The Human Bean.
From sponsorship to event involvement to donation days, our team is committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve locally and globally.

The Human Bean of Treasure Valley held a donation day benefiting a local and worthy children’s cause called the Jayden DeLuca Foundation, on Friday, June 24th. This year marked the 4th annual Jayden DeLuca Fundraiser and all five Human Bean locations in Treasure Valley participated by encouraging customer donations and donating 30% of their daily sales directly to the cause.

The donations raised by this event will support technological progress in the development of pediatric heart conditions. Thank you to all who supported the Jayden DeLuca Foundation by generously donating or purchasing a tasty beverage in Treasure Valley on June 24th.

guest barista

We are proud to recognize another Human Bean region in Northern Colorado who is giving back in big ways both locally and globally.

The Human Bean of Northern Colorado¬†hosts many “Guest Barista Days” where members of the community join the baristas in the stands and¬†interact directly with customers to promote their cause. In addition to encouraging customer donations, The Human Bean of Northern Colorado gives 10% of their daily sales to the guest barista. They hosted one of their very own managers¬†as a Guest Barista in support of her recent trip to an orphanage in Haiti on Thursday, June 23, at their¬†location in Evans, Colorado.

Read more about her eye-opening experience here: My Trip to Haiti…

The Human Bean of Northern Colorado encouraged customers to donate basic medical supplies that they would send to the orphanage in Haiti where their manager visited. A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated! Because of you, The Human Bean of Northern Colorado was able to provide a large donation of medial supplies to support children in Haiti.

New Locations in Missouri, Oregon and Colorado!

Summer is here and The Human Bean is busy bringing delicious drinks and positive vibes to new places this season!

St Joe

St. Joseph, Missouri is OPEN & looking GREAT

Just this month we’ve opened two new locations in St. Joseph, Missouri and Newport, Oregon. We have another location opening soon¬†in beautiful Loveland, Colorado too. If you are lucky enough to be a frequent visitor to any of these cities, be sure to take note of their addresses. The next time you’re in the area, swing by for a delicious drink and give a warm welcome to¬†the newest addition to¬†our Human Bean family.

Monday, June 20th, marked the 1st day of Summer and the opening day for the first Human Bean in our ninth state, Missouri! Located conveniently off HWY 169 at 4414 Commons Dr., The Human Bean of St. Joseph features a jaw-dropping double-sided drive-thru design and is now open from 5am to 9pm daily.

Like many franchisees, St. Joe franchisee, Erin Albright-Milek, first fell in love with The Human Bean after stumbling upon one while visiting central Oregon. The amazing experience she had at the Human Bean location in Albany, OR stuck with her and she knew she had to learn more.

So many SMILES on opening day!

After visiting additional locations and researching¬†more about the brand, she realized¬†The Human Bean Franchise offered something special. She was impressed by the qualified barista who took her order,¬†the extensive product offerings and exceptional drink quality she received. Additionally, the seamless drive-thru design added convenience to her experience that is unparalleled to conventional sit-down cafes. ‚ÄúWe want to offer the same great experience in our area,‚ÄĚ said Albright-Milek.

Newport

The Newport, OR team is ready to serve you!

Almost 2000 miles west of St. Joseph, another Human Bean location opened its doors along the Oregon Coast in Newport, Oregon! The Human Bean of Newport celebrated their grand opening with the friendly Newport community on Wednesday, June 8th.

Newport’s tight-knit community is what attracted Human Bean franchisee, Troy Haugen, to this region. This gorgeous¬†coastal city offers lots of natural beauty, outdoor activities, an appreciation for arts and “some of the most friendly people around,” said Haugen.

Haugen is excited to establish Human Bean¬†in the Newport community with future plans of opening more¬†locations along the coast. “We all deserve a good quality cup of coffee,” said Haugen.

Celebrating Earth Day with Reusable Bags

Friday, April 22nd marks Earth Day 2016.

In celebration of Earth Day, we are giving customers complimentary reusable shopping bags with their drink purchase that day while supplies last. Check with your favorite location for participation.

From shopping to groceries, you’ll love finding new ways to reuse your bag! And you’ll feel good using an eco-friendly bag vs disposable, single-use, plastic ones!

Over the years, The Human Bean has provided customers with over 80,000 reusable bags on Earth Day. Just think of the thousands of plastic bags we saved by making this small change!

Because supplies are limited, bags will be given on a first come, first serve basis on Earth Day (limit 2 bags per vehicle). Most Human Bean locations are participating, but check-in with your favorite stand before Earth Day to be sure.

Visit our Facebook Earth Day Event Page for more info & updates and join the event for a notification reminder the morning of Earth Day.

See you at The Human Bean for delicious drinks & reusable bags on Earth Day! (4/22)

New Building for Original Ashland Location

THE HUMAN BEAN IS INVESTING IN NEW STANDS TO BETTER SERVE CUSTOMERS

The Human Bean team is hard at work renovating drive-thru locations in Jackson County to improve operations, visual curb appeal and better serve coffee lovers in the Rogue Valley!

The first location to receive a complete remodel is the original Human Bean that started it all back in 1998 in Ashland, Oregon. The Human Bean of Ashland paved the way for The Human Bean brand and established the products, operations and customer service we all know and love today.

The new Ashland location features a stone covered foundation, warm coffee & mocha colors and light fixtures decorated with The Human Bean’s steaming coffee cup icon. Next time you’re in the Ashland area, make sure to check-out the beautiful new building off Highway 99!

Let us know what you think of the changes on our Jackson County Facebook page. We’d love your feedback! Also, stay-tuned for the next complete remodel- The Human Bean off Biddle Rd. by Dairy Queen in Medford is next!

Bringing The Bean to Eugene

The Human Bean opened location¬†#1 in Ashland, Oregon in 1998 but it didn’t take long for the¬†brand to build¬†a reputation for excellent coffee & customer service. The Human Bean soon expanded to surrounding cities and¬†across¬†Oregon through corporate development and approved franchises. Today, The Human Bean has grown to¬†60 locations in 9 states with a¬†majority still operating in its home state of Oregon. We are excited to bring The Human Bean to another¬†city in Oregon this month; Eugene, we know you’re ready for us!

Eugene is Oregon‚Äôs second largest city following Portland with over 160,000 residents. It¬†is home to the University of Oregon (Go Ducks!) and has earned the title of, ‚ÄúTrackTown USA‚ÄĚ, after being the birthplace of athletic mega-brand Nike and hosting multiple Olympic trials.

Bringing The Human Bean to “TrackTown USA” is Eugene native, Lauren Karcher. ‚ÄúI have a love affair with this city,‚ÄĚ says Karcher, and “we feel so fortunate to open the very first Human Bean here”. The culture of The Human Bean brand is ‚Äúkind, genuine and fun‚ÄĚ and it¬†strives to give back locally¬†through fundraisers and sponsorships. The Human Bean will be a natural fit for the community-minded city of Eugene.

Along with the brand, Eugene residents can expect many benefits from The Human Bean’s drive-thru design. The Human Bean features a double-sided drive thru that fosters¬†both convenience and customer service.¬†‚ÄúThe drive-thru lets¬†our customers stay inside their warm cars, get their favorite drinks quickly, and still gives us time to connect with them!‚Ä̬†says Karcher.

Karcher chose to franchise with The Human Bean after visiting many locations around Oregon. “While I am very much hooked on the drinks, the culture and the people of Human Bean is really why I fell in love,‚ÄĚ says Karcher.

Karcher‚Äôs goal for The Human Bean is to expand the brand everywhere she can, focusing on the Eugene area. ‚ÄúOnce we find the sites, I will do everything I can to make it happen,‚ÄĚ says Karcher.

“I am blessed to help start and end people’s day with a positive vibe & delicious drink.”
-Lauren Karcher

The Human Bean corporate team¬†is elated to welcome Karcher to our franchise family and can’t wait to see the successes to come from the new Eugene location. Opening Soon in Missouri!

With a passion¬†for creating happy people and our love of coffee, we opened our first drive-thru espresso stand in Ashland Oregon in 1998. The demand for The Human Bean’s convenient, consistent and customer focused¬†brand¬†grew and soon after opening in¬†Ashland, we expanded to surrounding cities in Oregon and steadily grew to¬†nearby¬†states.

This season, we are excited to announce that we are bringing The Human Bean to state number 9 with the opening of our 58th location in St. Joseph, Missouri!

Missouri

Located along the Missouri River and about 60 miles north of Kansas City, St. Joseph is rich with history and home to almost 80,000 residents. Among those residing in St. Joseph is HB franchisee, Erin Albright-Milek.

Albright-Milek discovered The Human Bean while vacationing in Albany, OR. She fell in love with the¬†brand and was impressed by the qualified¬†baristas that took her order. Once she tasted¬†her Snowy Mocha and The Human Bean’s signature chocolate covered espresso bean on top, she was hooked!

After visiting additional¬†locations and learning more about the¬†brand, Albright-Milek discovered¬†The Human Bean Franchise offered something special.¬†The fun atmosphere and positive spirit demonstrated by the baristas was contagious and “we¬†want to¬†offer the¬†same great experience in our area,”¬†said¬†Albright-Milek.

In addition, The Human Bean’s focus on community involvement excited and inspired¬†Albright-Milek. Since 2002, The Human Bean’s largest annual fundraiser, Coffee for A Cure, has raised over $850,000 for local breast health centers. Along with her interest in participating in Coffee for A Cure, “we’d like to show support for other organizations in our immediate area as well,” said¬†Albright-Milek.

Albright-Milek and her team are working hard to open their first stand on 4414 Commons Drive in St. Joseph by early March. Once they become great at what they do and establish The Human Bean within the St. Joseph community, they plan to eventually expand the brand to the Kansas City area.

The Human Bean expects to continue this growth through approved franchisees that share the same determination and commitment to our goals for this exceptional brand. If you are interested in learning more about The Human Bean franchise opportunities in areas that remain available for development, please refer to the Franchise page.

Farm Friendly Direct:
In conjunction with the non-profit Trees for the Future, 15,000 shade trees were planted in the Apaneca coffee growing region in El Salvador. These trees were planted for shade and will provide a huge offset to carbon output. The canopy of these shade trees provide a cool habitat for birds and protect the coffee plants from too much rain or sun. Further, the mangoes and papaya from these trees provide the farmers with another source of income. For more information about our socially responsible Farm Friendly Direct Program, click HERE.
