The Human Bean drive thru coffee franchise was founded 18 years ago in 1998.  Ashland, Oregon was the location of the first Human Bean. Our commitment to developing the best drive-thru espresso led us to franchising The Human Bean’s brand and system in 2002. We are proud to announce that The Human Bean has expanded to 65 locations in nine states!  There are 13 corporate locations and 52 franchised locations. We also expect to continue this growth.  We will do so through approved franchisees that share the same determination and commitment to our goals for this exceptional brand.

New Human Bean Location Opens in Lake Havasu AZ

Another new Human Bean location proves that coffee consumption continues to grow.  But this is not the black drip coffee of the past! One third of the population drinks a gourmet coffee or espresso beverage each day.  And drive-thru options only continue to grow in popularity due to our fast paced and on-the-go lifestyles. Although in a hurry, consumers are not willing to sacrifice quality for convenience.  This makes The Human Bean’s award winning Farm-Friendly Direct coffee and high quality products the perfect combination.

Headquartered in Oregon, The Human Bean has opened six new Human Bean locations in the past six months in five different states.  These states include Missouri, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado & Arizona. The latest of which was the third location to open in the Lake Havasu area November, 14th. This new Human Bean location brought the total Human Bean count to 64.new human bean location

Brian & Juls Baumkirchner, owners of all three Havasu locations, said they came into the role of Human Bean Franchisee when they took over the first location at 633 North Lake Havasu Avenue in 2007. The Baumkirchners saw the potential for this location to be the bustling coffee drive-thru destination that it is today. Their other two locations are on South McCulloch and now North Palo Verde on Highway 95. Between the three locations they are able to provide employment for 30 employees plus 1 handyman, 1 machine maintenance person and 1 bookkeeper.

Choosing a new Human Bean Location

Brain Baumkirchner said they chose this new Human Bean location because many of their customers had constantly asked for it. “The North side of town doesn’t have very many business establishments for the residents and tourists alike. Additionally this location has higher traffic when compared to the two other locations.”  Couple that with the fact that it has a double drive through and ample vehicle cueing; it is designed to provide the very best customer experience.
The Baumkirchners also have letters of intent for additional locations signed in nearby cities.

Baumkirchner credits this growth to the brand supporting their franchisees and says, “The Human Bean Team has become like a family for us.” Human Bean co-founder, Dan Hawkins, states “Brian and Juls are phenomenal operators and it is a joy to get to work with them. They have a passion for creating the very best customer experience and the results are really something special!”

Baumkirchner sums it up nicely when he says, “It’s amazing to be a part of a quality brand and system that grew to 3 stores with proper management. Like I always tell people, ‘If the coffee wasn’t superior and service was sub-par, we wouldn’t exist!’”

The kind of growth Baumkirchner has experienced speaks for the brand as a whole.  The Human Bean shows no signs of slowing down on growth.  The company plans to open at least 19 more franchise locations by the end of 2017 throughout the US.  This would bring  the total to 82.new human bean location

Single-sided Drive Thru is Unique

Newberg features a single-sided drive thru. As a result customers place their order at the order station. This design was developed by The Human Bean corporate team. The corner lot was in high demand so a single-sided drive thru was developed.  Also Opposite of the standard double-sided drive thru of the brand. The new order station features a visual menu board, audio speaker post and headsets for the baristas. This effective ordering station allows The Human Bean to maintain the speed. As a result giving us greater flexibility when choosing new corporate or franchised site locations.

Efficiency and Accuracy

Along with increasing efficiency and accuracy, the Newberg stand prioritized upholding The Human Bean’s exceptional customer service. Greeting customers using headsets rather than face-to-face interaction was unfamiliar. Consequently our talented Newberg baristas quickly adapted and soon it became second nature. “Having a good time with customers at the order station makes it even more enjoyable for them when they pull up to the window and see a smiling face!” said Shelby.

Opens Up New Opportunities

The Human Bean of Newberg’s success has been a direct result of the hard working and enthusiastic people. The Human Bean team and of the overwhelming support from the Newberg, Oregon community. Additionally, the success of Newberg represents exciting opportunities for The Human Bean brand. Most of all at the corporate level and through franchising.
