Supporting Local & Global Communities

Giving back is important to The Human Bean.
From sponsorship to event involvement to donation days, our team is committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve locally and globally.

The Human Bean of Treasure Valley held a donation day benefiting a local and worthy children’s cause called the Jayden DeLuca Foundation, on Friday, June 24th. This year marked the 4th annual Jayden DeLuca Fundraiser and all five Human Bean locations in Treasure Valley participated by encouraging customer donations and donating 30% of their daily sales directly to the cause.

The donations raised by this event will support technological progress in the development of pediatric heart conditions. Thank you to all who supported the Jayden DeLuca Foundation by generously donating or purchasing a tasty beverage in Treasure Valley on June 24th.

guest barista

We are proud to recognize another Human Bean region in Northern Colorado who is giving back in big ways both locally and globally.

The Human Bean of Northern Colorado hosts many “Guest Barista Days” where members of the community join the baristas in the stands and interact directly with customers to promote their cause. In addition to encouraging customer donations, The Human Bean of Northern Colorado gives 10% of their daily sales to the guest barista. They hosted one of their very own managers as a Guest Barista in support of her recent trip to an orphanage in Haiti on Thursday, June 23, at their location in Evans, Colorado.

Read more about her eye-opening experience here: My Trip to Haiti…

The Human Bean of Northern Colorado encouraged customers to donate basic medical supplies that they would send to the orphanage in Haiti where their manager visited. A HUGE thank you to everyone who donated! Because of you, The Human Bean of Northern Colorado was able to provide a large donation of medial supplies to support children in Haiti.

The Human Bean believes that no one should ever go hungry, no matter the time of year. “We choose to hold our annual food drive in mid-summer each year because this is when food donations reach their annual lows,” said Jackie McGrath of The Human Bean. “There are many food drives during the winter holidays, but summer is when supplies run low and the need is high.”

A huge thank you again to everyone for supporting our Food Drive and making it a success. Your generous donations are making a difference in feeding the hungry in your community. Thank you!

Walk for Water Event Success!

The Human Bean is a proud supporter of the Walk for Water fundraiser that brings clean water to communities in need around the world. This year, Portland Global Initiatives hit their target and raised nearly $6,000 at their 6th annual Walk for Water event on Saturday, May 31, 2014. This exciting event was held at Portland Roasting Coffee’s headquarters in downtown Portland with an estimated 250 in attendance, including a team of HB baristas! Those who attended not only enjoyed the walk, but also enjoyed many other fun festivities including live music, interactive booths and even a beer garden.

walk for water middle school - CopyWWD Poster cropwalk for water beer garden pic - CopyPortland locals shared their musical talents live on stage throughout the event. Appearances from Sellwood Middle School’s Marimba Band, singer/songwriter Snowblind Traveler, and Portland’s own R&B band Soul City were among the great musicians who performed.  Adding to the energy of the event were fun activities like super soaker soccer, face painting and a dunk tank. This event had happenings for the adults too with a beer garden featuring Portland’s Laurelwood Brewing Co. and booths with local food favorites like Pacific Pie Co.

Along with sending an HB team to participate and volunteer for the event, we helped raise awareness through our social media pages and with on-site posters. We also held a mug promotion giving locals incentive to donate and sponsor our team which raised almost $1,000 for the event!

Thank you to all who supported the event by attending, donating and volunteering! Your efforts will make a difference by bringing clean water systems to communities. We hope to build on the event’s success next year and continue to sponsor this great cause.
