Two new Human Bean Locations to open and be the first in their states of Ohio & Texas!

We are so excited we are able to continue growing and adding to the Human Bean family with new locations opening all over the US every month this year! Our newest drive-thru coffee franchise locations will be located in Canton, Ohio and Odessa, Texas.

New Location to open in Canton, Ohio on March, 7th!

Partners in this location are Southern Oregon Owners, Moni Peterson & Dr. Mark Peterson along with Moni’s brother, Ron Watson, who lives in Canton. Ron says they had been brainstorming on a franchise company to open in Southern Oregon for years but nothing had proved to be that appealing. One day on his annual summer visit to the Rogue Valley they were sitting outside a Human Bean drive-thru coffee location talking while drinking their Human Bean coffee and it dawned on them that maybe it would be a good idea to instead open a franchise in Canton, Ohio and be the first to bring the Human Bean brand to the state. It turned out Dr. Mark Peterson had gone to school with one of the founders of Human Bean and after getting in touch and learning more about the franchise, and meeting the other owners, the rest is history!
Choosing the location proved to be just as effortless. A small green square of land in the middle of a popular shopping Plaza had just been listed and met all the criteria. Ron thinks it will be a great location because of all the traffic. There are 3 entrances/exits, 1 with a traffic light, it is less than 1 mile from the Expressway and 24,000 cars pass by this location every day. Inside the Plaza is one of the most active Planet Fitness locations in Ohio, as well as a Sky Zone Jump center and many other attractions.
Ron has a background in Sales & Marketing & Graphic Art which will prove to be an asset in running a Human Bean franchise location. They have plans to open 2 or 3 or maybe even more locations in the area in the near future. Currently, they are looking at a location in Alliance, about 15 miles away and also have their eyes on a couple of locations in North Canton about 5 miles away.
Ron says the process of working with the Human Bean to open his first franchise has been great. “A potential franchise owner called me for a referral the other day and I had nothing but good things to say,” he says.
New Location to open in Odessa, Texas in April

Owner Maurice Torano sums it up perfectly by saying, “At Human Bean, it’s about the customer – it’s that simple and appealing!” Maurice says he always admired the Human Bean, but didn’t really know much about them. Upon learning more, he says, “Human Bean matches my style and values so much better than the other franchises.” He finds this to be the main difference that sets the Human Bean apart, “The customer service ethos is unmatched! It’s not about how to order, how to pronounce something, how cool the barista is or how urbane and up-to-the second their image is, it’s about the customer.”
Maurice’s background is in commercial and real estate development in and around Southern Oregon and Northern California. When the real-estate market was hit in 2007, he found his way to North Dakota and re-invented himself in the oil and gas world, managing large scale projects for two major oil and gas service companies, eventually landing in West Texas. Upon moving to Midland-Odessa in late 2012 he immediately noticed there were only 2-3 Starbucks for a population of over 300,000 people and saw the need for a drive-thru coffee franchise like the Human Bean.
Maurice is looking to open his first franchise location in Odessa on East University Boulevard, in early April. He plans to open additional locations in Midland and Odessa before years end.
At the Human Bean we are thrilled to introduce ourselves to the states of Ohio and Texas! To learn more about becoming a franchise owner and bringing the Human Bean to your area, visit our website at: https://thehumanbean.com/franchise/

Another New Location Opens in Lake Havasu, AZ – The Human Bean shows no Signs of Slowing Down!

Coffee consumption continues to grow, but this is not the black drip coffee of the past! One third of the population drinks a gourmet coffee or espresso beverage each day and drive-thru options only continue to grow in popularity due to our fast paced and on-the-go lifestyles. Although in a hurry, consumers are not willing to sacrifice quality for convenience which makes The Human Bean’s award winning Farm-Friendly Direct coffee and high quality products the perfect combination.
Headquartered in Oregon, The Human Bean has opened six new coffee franchises in the past six months in five different states (Missouri, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado & Arizona). The latest of which was the third location to open in the Lake Havasu area November, 14th. This location brought the total Human Bean count to 64.havasu-pic
Brian & Juls Baumkirchner, owners of all three Havasu locations, said they came into the role of Human Bean Franchisee when they took over the first location at 633 North Lake Havasu Avenue in 2007. The Baumkirchners saw the potential for this location to be the bustling coffee drive-thru destination that it is today. Their other two locations are on South McCulloch and now North Palo Verde on Highway 95. Between the three locations they are able to provide employment for 30 employees plus 1 handyman, 1 machine maintenance person and 1 bookkeeper.
Brain Baumkirchner said they chose this new location because many of their customers had constantly asked for it. “The North side of town doesn’t have very many business establishments for the residents and tourists alike. Additionally this location has higher traffic when compared to the two other locations.” Couple that with the fact that it has a double drive through and ample vehicle cueing; it is designed to provide the very best customer experience.
The Baumkirchners also have letters of intent for additional locations signed in nearby cities. Baumkirchner credits this growth to the brand supporting their franchisees and says, “The Human Bean Team has become like a family for us.” Human Bean co-founder, Dan Hawkins, states “Brian and Juls are phenomenal operators and it is a joy to get to work with them. They have a passion for creating the very best customer experience and the results are really something special!”
Baumkirchner sums it up nicely when he says, “It’s amazing to be a part of a quality brand and system that grew to 3 stores with proper management. Like I always tell people, ‘If the coffee wasn’t superior and service was sub-par, we wouldn’t exist!’”
The kind of growth Baumkirchner has experienced speaks for the brand as a whole and the Human Bean shows no signs of slowing down on growth with plans to open at least 19 more franchise locations by the end of 2017 throughout the US bringing the total to 82.human-bean-havasu-3

All three Grants Pass, Oregon locations celebrated their second year of ownership on July 1st. Promoting their anniversary as Customer Appreciation Day, The Human Bean of Grants Pass was beyond excited to recognize their loyal customers and the feeling was mutual. Grants Pass customers were happy to celebrate this day with their favorite baristas around. A regular customer from Grants Pass  commented on Facebook, “Thanks for the great service and for always remembering my drink order even before I get there!” Congratulations on the anniversary Grants Pass!

Also to celebrate noteworthy anniversaries this summer is The Human Bean of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and The Human Bean of Seaside, Oregon. The northern Lake Havasu City location is thankful for 10 great years and can’t wait to celebrate such a milestone with their recently opened 2nd location on the south-side of town.

The Human Bean of Seaside celebrates 8 wonderful years mid August this year. Seaside franchisees couldn’t be prouder of the community involvement they’ve established in Seaside and are bringing their same lively spirit to their Warrenton location which opened last October. “We try to separate ourselves by really standing out as a supporter of the community,” said Seaside franchisee. Flavor:
Three words to describe this light roast are floral, fruity and balanced. This coffee begins with sweet floral aromas and delicate undertones of pipe tobacco. It highlights a medium body containing sweet notes of cocoa and graham crackers. Lastly, the quick finish makes this bean a perfect expression of traditional Costa Rican coffees.

More Than Just Great Coffee…

Since the launch of our first location over 15 years ago, The Human Bean has experienced purposeful growth and an unwavering devotion to developing the best drive-thru espresso brand. Recognized for our efforts and success, The Human Bean has been honored with many awards over the years. Throughout this blog, I will share The Human Bean’s local to nationwide recognition.Slide1History
With a passion for creating happy people and our love of coffee, we opened our first drive-thru espresso stand in Ashland Oregon in 1998. The demand for convenient, quality coffee & espresso grew and soon after opening our original location in Ashland, we expanded to surrounding cities in Southern Oregon. The Human Bean quickly established a reputation for having friendly and experienced baristas and offering the highest quality ingredients. Our commitment to developing the best drive-thru espresso led us to franchising The Human Bean’s brand and system in 2002. We are proud to announce that The Human Bean has expanded to 51 locations in eight states, 38 of those being franchised locations. We expect to continue this growth through approved franchisees that share the same determination and commitment to our goals for this exceptional brand.

Nationally Acclaimed
Every year since 2010, The Human Bean has earned a spot on Entrepreneur Magazine’s top 500 franchise list. Entrepreneur Magazine recognizes successful franchises poised for growth in their annually released Franchise 500¼.  Franchise 500¼ is known as one of the best and most comprehensive franchise rankings in the world. They analyze companies by important factors including financial strength and stability, growth rate and size of system. The Human Bean is proud and privileged to be ranked among such successful franchised companies.Entrepreneur 2013 (1)If you are interested in learning more about our drive-thru espresso franchise opportunities, please refer to the Franchise Page on our website.

Local Awards
The Human Bean holds the same appreciation and pride for our locally recognized awards. Southern Oregon’s, The Mail Tribune, reveals the Rouge Valley’s favorite places, people and activities in their annual Readers’ Choice Awards. Voted on by the people, the Readers’ Choice Awards truly represent the best of Southern Oregon. Over the last 10 years, The Human Bean has been voted #1 in Best Coffee 8 times. Our greatest gratitude goes out to the loyal customers who voted for us.

Readers Choice 2013 (1)Sneak Preview (2)

The second largest publication in Oregon, Sneak Preview, releases the “Best of Medford Oregon” annually. In the last 5 years, The Human Bean has taken home the #1 spot 3 times for the “Best Place to Get Coffee”. Additionally, in 2011 The Human Bean was voted Best Small Business from the Jackson County Chamber. We could not have received any of these awards without the love and support of our local community. Thank you Rouge Valley!
