Human Bean Food Drive 2017

The Human Bean Food Drive was held on Friday, August 25th.  This was our 8th annual event.  Human Bean customers who participated in the one-day event received drink discounts in exchange for food donations.  Also, in Oregon, they received a chance to win Ducks or Beavers football tickets if they donated 3 items or more.

With the majority of food drives held during the winter months, many local food banks run lowest on food supplies during the summer.  The Human Bean recognizes this need and believes that everyone deserves a nutritious meal, no matter what time of year.  Therefore we choose to run our annual event during the summer months as a way to give back to our local communities when most needed.

Each participating Human Bean location chose a local food bank to support.  In Southern Oregon, food donations went to Access.  In Northern Oregon, food donations went to Oregon Food Bank as well as FISH Emergency Services in Newberg and a local church food bank in Canby.  Between all of the 13 corporate Oregon locations over a thousand pounds of food was donated!

Human Bean Food Drive Results

Kyle Hummel with Oregon Food Bank reported back after the Human Bean Food Drive, “So the grand total was 187 pounds which will allow us to provide 159 meals to the community!  Or help out 159 of our neighbors in need!  Pretty awesome!  I hope you are as proud of those numbers as we are; to be able to support almost 160 people is wonderful!”  This was from only 3 locations in Northern Oregon and yes, we are very proud of these numbers!

The Human Bean has 68 locations in 11 states so you can imagine the cumulative impact we were able to make.

Human Bean Food Drive Football Winners

The winners of the Oregon football tickets were chosen randomly after the drive was completed.  Donors who entered were able to specify which team tickets they would like to win.  Carol Snider of Eugene won tickets to the Beavers vs. Stanford game and Kristin Davidson of Grants Pass won tickets to the Ducks vs. Arizona Wildcats game.  Congratulations to them both!

4th Annual Food Drive

The Human Bean held their fourth annual food drive on Friday, August 22nd.  They were overjoyed by community and customer support. Along with all the smiles, The Human Bean customers enjoyed drink discounts.  Plus they had a chance to win college football tickets with their donations during the one-day event. All food donations were kept local and benefited food banks in each community.

The Human Bean believes that no one should ever go hungry, no matter the time of year. “We choose to hold our annual food drive in mid-summer each year.  This is when food donations reach their annual lows,” said Jackie McGrath of The Human Bean. “There are many food drives during the winter holidays.  But summer is when supplies run low and the need is high.”

A huge thank you again to everyone for supporting our annual Food Drive and making it a success. Your generous donations are making a difference in feeding the hungry in your community. Thank you!

About the Human Bean

With a passion for creating happy people and our love of coffee, we opened our first drive-thru espresso stand in Ashland Oregon in 1998. The demand for convenient, quality coffee & espresso grew.  Soon after opening our original location in Ashland, we expanded to surrounding cities in Southern Oregon. The Human Bean quickly established a reputation for having friendly and experienced baristas and also offering the highest quality ingredients.

Our commitment to developing the best drive-thru espresso led us to franchising The Human Bean’s brand and system in 2002. We are proud to announce that The Human Bean has expanded to 66 locations.  This is in ten states, 53 of those being franchised locations and 13 being corporate locations. We expect to continue this growth through approved franchisees that share the same determination as well as commitment to our goals for this exceptional brand.
