Human Bean Food Drive 2017

The Human Bean Food Drive was held on Friday, August 25th.  This was our 8th annual event.  Human Bean customers who participated in the one-day event received drink discounts in exchange for food donations.  Also, in Oregon, they received a chance to win Ducks or Beavers football tickets if they donated 3 items or more.

With the majority of food drives held during the winter months, many local food banks run lowest on food supplies during the summer.  The Human Bean recognizes this need and believes that everyone deserves a nutritious meal, no matter what time of year.  Therefore we choose to run our annual event during the summer months as a way to give back to our local communities when most needed.

Each participating Human Bean location chose a local food bank to support.  In Southern Oregon, food donations went to Access.  In Northern Oregon, food donations went to Oregon Food Bank as well as FISH Emergency Services in Newberg and a local church food bank in Canby.  Between all of the 13 corporate Oregon locations over a thousand pounds of food was donated!

Kyle Hummel with Oregon Food Bank reported back after the Human Bean Food Drive, “So the grand total was 187 pounds which will allow us to provide 159 meals to the community!¬† Or help out 159 of our neighbors in need!¬† Pretty awesome!¬† I hope you are as proud of those numbers as we are; to be able to support almost 160 people is wonderful!”¬† This was from only 3 locations in Northern Oregon and yes, we are very proud of these numbers!

The Human Bean has 68 locations in 11 states so you can imagine the cumulative impact we were able to make.

Human Bean Food Drive Football Winners

The winners of the Oregon football tickets were chosen randomly after the drive was completed.  Donors who entered were able to specify which team tickets they would like to win.  Carol Snider of Eugene won tickets to the Beavers vs. Stanford game and Kristin Davidson of Grants Pass won tickets to the Ducks vs. Arizona Wildcats game.  Congratulations to them both!

Hot Chocolate & Holiday Lights | The Human Bean

merry & bright

Holiday Lights is a fun event every year!  Nothing says happy holidays more than delicious hot chocolate, sparkling Christmas lights and also supporting the community! This season The Human Bean celebrated all these things and more on Dec. 22nd at Greystone Court during the Access Inc. Hot Chocolate Sponsorship.

Greystone Court is located in Medford, Oregon and every winter the entire neighborhood brightly shines. Each house on the block is gorgeously decorated with countless holiday lights.

About Holiday Lights

More than 5,000 cars drive through Greystone Court annually to catch a glimpse of these lights. Access Inc. has made this event one of their greatest annual food drives by encouraging members of the community to bring canned food and cash donations. In support of Access Inc. and to spread holiday cheer, The Human Bean added to the event for the third year in a row by providing free hot chocolate to those attending.

The Human Bean served 20 gallons and over 450 cups of complimentary hot chocolate that evening. Faces of children from ages 1-92 gleamed as they enjoyed the beautiful lights while sipping on warm hot chocolate. Needless to say, we’ll definitely be back next year.

Happy Holidays from one Human Bean to Another!
