Frequently Asked Questions – Franchise Program 2018-04-05T15:28:40+00:00

Q: What areas are available for franchising?

A: Once we have received your franchise application, we will review your area for availability. We receive inquires regularly about potential The Human Bean locations. We offer single store franchise agreements which provide a mile radius protection around each store and area development agreements which enable multi-store expansion for a chosen area.
Oregon areas that are not available: Jackson, Josephine and Klamath Counties
Colorado areas that are not available: Larimer and Weld Counties
Check our store location page for reference.  The Human Bean franchise may not yet be available in your state.

Q: How much does it cost to get a franchise?

A: Costs may range from $152,750-$617,000 depending on the site development specifics of your location. If you choose to purchase land, those costs will elevate. In most instances a franchisee must have the ability to obtain $250,000 to $300,000.

Q: Do you offer a finance program?

A: No. However, many beginning and seasoned entrepreneurs find equipment leasing a valuable tool. Equipment leasing allows business owners to retain their cash, and saves them from the often-tedious experience of standard financial lending. Further, a large portion of the initial start-up cost can be financed.

Our franchise is recognized by SBA Franchise Registry, which may provide potential franchisees assistance through this government agency.

Q: How much is the franchise fee?

A: $30,000

Q: What kind of training do I get?

A: 3-weeks at our training facility and corporate stores located in Southern Oregon. Training includes both classroom and live hands-on drive thru training on procedures that range from machine maintenance to drink production to inventory control.

Q: What are the ongoing royalty fees?

A: We do not collect a royalty fee on sales.  We earn revenues from bulk sales of coffee beans, cups, lids and other supplies to our franchisees.

Q: Is your coffee sustainable?

A: The Human Bean is pleased to help support programs that go beyond our immediate responsibility as a specialty coffee retailer. “Farm Friendly Direct” not only plays a vital role in creating relationships that will ensure the supply of superior coffees, it also promotes conservation and sustainable coffee growing practices.

Q: How do I get started?
