The Human Bean is your one stop locally owned and operated coffee shop with seven stand alone locations and the coffee truck serving Fort Collins, Greeley, Evans, Loveland and LaSalle in northern Colorado. Our local team is dedicated to embracing the community through donations to local nonprofits, as well as financial giving through our Guest Barista Program. The largest financial donation made throughout the year is made in October during our Coffee for a Cure fundraiser, where 100% of sales from all locations are donated to local hospital cancer projects.

Come join the marvels of coffee with us and take a sip with The Human Bean!

Name: Kay Sherman, although most of the baristas call me “Miss Kay”

Hometown: I usually say, “Southern Fort Collins”, because we have lived here 18 years; but for accuracy’s sake (and because my accent doesn’t sound “Coloradoan”) it is Franklin, Tennessee.

When you’re not at THB: Taking care of Frank Sherman and visiting our children and grandchildren. Most of my time is spent driving the “Bean-Around” and shopping for our warehouse deliveries.

Longest list of drinks you’ve memorized: You don’t want me making your drink. I can tell you what tastes good though, and that list is a really long one.

Favorite Bean drink: For summer, it is a Peach Italian Soda or an Arnold Palmer with North West Raspberry syrup. (Don’t forget to get the lemon slice in it.) For winter, it is Mostly Toasty Chai. Year round, I have to stop at our LaSalle stand and get my weekly dose of frozen yogurt. (Yes, we sell yogurt, but only in LaSalle)

Pets: None. Our Dachshund, Tucky, died at the ripe old age of 16, and we have been too busy to train another dog.

Name: Jenae Nequette

Hometown: When do I get to call myself a Coloradan? haha Been here for 18 years and loving it.

When you’re not at THB: Museums, The Denver Zoo, Parks and most any place you can find 4 and 6 year olds. My youngest boys drive most of hobbies these days.

Favorite place to travel?: I caught the traveling bug when I was young and have prepped my kids to join in the excitement of experiencing new places and new cultures. My favorite all-time destination is Turkey – the country with a history as the culture crossroads and namesake of “Turkish coffee” which is a sweet and strong delight.

When you’re not at the Bean?: Between two young kids and a Newfoundland pup I spend more time at parks than the house. As soon as nice days hit in the spring I try to be in or near the water at every opportunity.

Favorite Bean drink: I love our Toddy and our Regional Roast. I enjoy testing my repertoire of flavors and trying to put my own tasting profile to each of the Regional Roasts we bring in.

Favorite part about working at the Bean?: I am in the fortunate position to hear from customers regularly – things that we have done to impress and things we have done that we can learn from. I love customer feedback and being able to recognize our amazing team of baristas for their excellence and make improvements in areas that we had oversight.
